Hissia jewels are designed for those who recognize quality and search for something special. Our jewels aim to make you feel unique, beautiful and comfortable. As it is important to us to help you keep your products in the best possible condition, we have included in this section a care instructions guide.
As implied in its definition, a jewel is a valued object. As such, it is a delicate good, and its beauty and lifetime depend on how it is treated.
Our artisans have devoted a great effort to manufacture your jewel, having successfully overcome our quality controls. In order for you to continue enjoying their
beauty as long as possible, we recommend that you follow instructions concerning their care.
Our jewelry is shipped in a protective box and, in some cases, a clothing bag. To keep it in the best condition, we recommend that you keep it in the original packaging. This way, you will avoid exposing it to other products that could erode it or modify its components. We recommend that you store them in a dark and dry place, avoiding excessive heat. If exposed to moisture, we advise storing them next to an anti-moisture bag. Gold plating on sterling silver can lose its intensity and color through time and use, depending on how the jewel is treated.
We recommend you to avoid contact with all kinds of liquids, including water, soap, detergent, alcohol or chemical products. Therefore, avoid washing your hands, showering, bathing or cleaning while wearing the jewels. We recommend that you apply makeup, perfume or hair spray before wearing the jewel. Avoid wearing the jewels during sports as well as swiming in the ocean with them.
To clean our jewels, we recommend you rub the metal with a soft cloth (not paper) to restore the shine and eliminate the oxidation. We advise against the use of chemical products, such as metal polish. For a deeper cleaning, you can rub with a damp cloth and use a hairdryer at a moderate temperature. Translucent gemstones can be cleaned the same way. Opaque gemstones, such as turquoise or lapis lazuli should only be cleaned gently with a dry cloth.
Some of our jewels contain ebony wood. Ebony is one of the most resistant kinds of wood, and will therefore have a long life if treated properly. However, wood is a natural material that loses its natural protection when exposed to moisture. We advise against wetting/soaking the jewels, as this will age the wood. Do not expose them to drastic temperature changes, as they can expand and contract. To bring back the shine, you can rub them with a soft cloth that is lightly soaked in olive oil, or even baby oil, avoiding the metal parts and letting it dry before use.
Be careful not to drop it or scratch the jewels. Do not try to force or bend them. We recommend that when putting on and taking off our bracelets, first insert the broader part from the side of your arm. Never try to force it on directly from above.
